Market Update 25th February 2025

Desiccated coconut prices in the export market remain strong, ranging from $0.80 to $1.70 per pound FOB, consistent with the high pricing levels observed in previous months. In the domestic market, prices for 100-pound bags in Manila are between PHP 5,230 and PHP 5,521, which indicates a slight decrease compared to earlier weeks. Nonetheless, overall demand remains steady, fuelled by high consumption in the USA, Europe, and Asia.

Coconut oil prices have risen further, with CIF Rotterdam prices now ranging from $2,000 to $2,085 per metric ton. This increase reflects strong demand and tight supply conditions in the producing countries. This year, the first reported trade for coconut oil was made at $2,035 per metric ton, signalling growing confidence among buyers. As palm oil and soybean oil also see price hikes, coconut oil remains in high demand, maintaining its status as a key alternative in the edible oil market.
